This is where I plan on cataloguing my efforts to get better at illustration. A couple years ago, I started taking lessons on Drawabox.com, but stopped at the 100 boxes challenge for some reason and just never got back into it. I plan on starting that up again and posting scans of my sketches
I want to use this page to talk about the stuff I like to draw and the artists from whom I take inspiration. I figure this is also a good spot to keep a list of ideas for drawings since I get creative block whenever I look at a blank page. I want to keep myself motivated to draw by coming up with really dumb ideas that I nonetheless find pretty funny
I love his old-school 2D Disney style. A lot of modern digital animation is very 'clean' and quick, but there's something about the slower, deliberate movements and minor imperfections of older animation that I find irresistible. Secret of NIMH, Space Ace, and Anastasia are personal favorites.
I've been a fan of Harry Partridge since I was in middle school. His animations are always so creative and funny to me. You can tell he puts a lot of care into the stuff he creates and it's the kind of infectious passion that gets me excited whenever he uploads something new. I'm really hoping he makes more Trilby Dogtooth animations.
What can I say? I'm a young adult male. Of course I'm a fan of Zach Hadel. There's something really impressive about how his show Smiling Friends manages to depict a world that feels cohesive despite being inhabited by asymmetrical, misshapen creatures. I haven't quite figured out why I find it so charming while something like Hazbin Hotel just makes my eyes hurt, but I think it's down to the simplicity of the characters. They're all freaks, but they're not overcomplicated in their construction, like the sort of thing you'd expect from a middle schooler doodling in the margins of their textbook.
This page is under construction, and will be for a while...
