In the year 2081, the earth is attacked by a swarm of alien monsters. Nobody knows where they came from, they just seemed to pop into existence in the blink of an eye, even inside of buildings like high security military bases. As such, humanity was ill equipped to fend off this menace, and most of our organized society broke down. Over the 15 years that followed, what remains of the US government has organized a series of task forces responsible for defending the few human settlements that remain within the territory of the continental United States. Our story centers on this program's newest recruits: a group of teenagers being inducted into the much maligned Task Force Upsilon. Though then-modern military equipment did little to fend off the invading alien creatures (colloquially dubbed "Trespassers"), recent advances show much promise. One such example is Upsilon's new recruits, who find themselves serving as bioweapons for the US government. Each recruit has had a chance encounter with one of the myriad species of trespasser that now roam the planet in packs, and each has managed to walk away not only with their lives, but also a bizarre mutation that allows them to call forth some of the creatures' inhuman abilities. The new members of Upsilon are tasked with defending human settlements, delivering resources, and scouting viable sites for further settlement construction, all while unravelling the mystery of the trespassers and their origins.
The team leader and oldest member of the task force. Damon is a type A personality, expecting everyone to be better than they are, and himself to be better than everyone else. Damon's encounter with a pack of Voyeurs outside his family's bunker has given him the ability to inspire paralyzing fear in others through eye-contact. This ability is used to punish those he considers undisciplined. The only member of the team that he really gets along with is Sarah, as she's the only one who consistently meets his expectations.
The team's medic and the heart of the group. Lily is quick to help others before herself
The team's engineer
The team's lead researcher and the most academically gifted member of the group
The team's best soldier and unofficial second in command.
The monstrosities that now find themselves inhabiting earth have earned the name of 'Tresspasser', as none are welcome. Though they vary greatly in appearance and physical ability, Tresspassers have been observed to largely coexist peacefully among different species, though typically keep to their own kind.
I envision this project as an animated series with 20-30 minute episodes. As such, I'm planning on pacing the story to fit that sort of format, even though it's never actually gonna become a TV show. I'll probably break down the episodic events of the story into chapters, with about 10 'episodes' per 'season'. One of my very first ideas for this story slowly evolved into what is now planned as the ending for 'season 1'. Once I get more comfortable with this whole website business, I'll probably turn each of these paragraphs into their own pages with more fleshed out info and artwork to show what the characters and trespassers would look like. Following the idea of this being formatted as an animated series, I settled on Kiltro's song 'Cuchito' as the opening theme for season one, and their song 'The Hustle' as the theme for season 2. There isn't much in the lyrics that fits the story thematically, but Kiltro's songs, and especially these two, have a really fun spooky vibe that I want to carry with me while I work on this project. I'm not sure if this is just a juvenile impulse that I'll grow out of the longer I work on this project, but I want it to be especially gory, and creative with the gore at that. I want each of my projects to have a slightly different style to them as I explore different genres, settings, and themes. With the way this project in particular is supposed to be very intense and raw with its emotional subject matter, I wanted to reflect that by making the world a super violent place where people die every day, but no two people ever die in the same way. A lot of this stems from the protagonists of this story being a bunch of hormonal teenagers, all of them between the ages of 15 and 18. I'm a big fan of writing matched sets into my stories. The clearest example in this case being that the 9 protagonists are each based off the 9 Enneagrams (the number on each person's uniform and armor also coincide with their respective enneagram). It may make the cast seem bloated, but I figure that just means I'll need to flex my creative muscles to make sure each of them has something to do in the story
